hits and misses

My hits this year were mainly the blog posts and poetry. I tend to enjoy writing shorter pieces of writing because it forces you to be brief but also as descriptive as possible. Blogs and poetry are more of a creative outlet than any other kind of writing. I do not know if I like free writing or prompts more. I feel like I will always enjoy creative writing such as poetry or blogs more than anything. Some of my misses included the larger pieces of writing. I often lose focus, detail, and meaning when I write for long pieces of time. I think that if I become a better writer I will struggle less with major writings. For literary analyses and DBQs I seem to find myself in a pickle that will grow smaller over time as I become a better writer.

"You’re feminist? why?" he laughed Because she thought, Because she’s still afraid to wear what she wants Because men still make more than women Because her friend told her women don’t deserve the right to vote The statement stuck with her, though it shouldn’t have “Do other people really think this?” She wonders for days A friend offers to get her a “feminist” necklace, She immediately thinks of the mockery, She considers telling her no. She will stand for what she believes in And she wants the necklace more than ever. She thinks of writing about feminism in class, But she immediately thinks of the mockery. She will stand for what she believes in, Though she can hear the groans of the readers.

yearbook

I tell myself that I do not like yearbook. Though when I find myself running around with a camera in my hand trying to capture people's smiles, I remember why I signed up for the class. Granted, I do not like missing practices or always being busy, but when i take a really good picture or see my picture in a yearbook spread I get the best feeling. This feeling of great reward is worth all of the looks I get and being the odd one out. Yearbook is also pretty hard. The class is really laid back all year but as the end comes we get more and more stressed out. The yearbook crew works over all breaks and the grind actually starts in the summer. That is when the editors, Ms. Madden, and all the people willing to, work their hardest to make the yearbook aesthetic and easy on the eyes.
