research topic- How and when did women get the right to vote in britian?

research update-
This topic is very interesting because it is a big part of history and an important step forward for feminism and womens suffrage. The women fighting for this right were fighting for 40 years before. It was a slow progression but eventually got passed. It started with women peacefully protesting and holding meetings to gain the right to vote. The British government was stubborn to reform their laws and refused to give women a say. This lead to women acting out and acting in radical ways.

Eventually these women fighting got attention and the idea of women's right to vote grew on them. After the colors purple, green, and white were introduced as WSPU's (Womens social and political union) signature people wanted to show their support more. Soon after Emmeline Pankhurst, one of the most well known feminists, threw herself in front of the kings horse after getting out of prison. She did this to get WSPU attention. That she did, but at the same time, she died from her devotion. Supporters were lost after this incident but more people were aware of their struggle. Over time the radical suffragettes were making steps forward. Britian got womens right to vote in 1928 after women from all different social classes came together to fit for equality.
